*Clinical Risk Specialist*

Description: Borgess Health is currently interviewing *Clinical Risk Specialist* right now, this vacancy will be placed in Michigan. This position reports to the Corporate Risk Officer and assists the Corporate Risk Officer in developing and implementing programs designed to improve patient safety and reduce incidents involving patients and visitors, including presentations to hospital staff. Collects, analyzes and trends data on patient incidents utilizing the event reporting system. Monitors events reported in event reporting system and investigates adverse events as appropriate. Facilitates root cause analyses of adverse events, participates in development of action plans, and monitors implementation of action plans. Utilizes acquired knowledge from analyses, investigations and root cause analyses to recommend process improvements in patient safety and quality initiatives. Works collaboratively with Quality/Accreditation/Regulation to complete the required failure mode and effects analysis of a high-risk process and the redesign, testing, implementation, and evaluation of the redesigned process.
Requirements:
Minimum of Associateâs degree in health care related field required. Bachelorâs degree required to be completed within one year of hire. Minimum of seven years of hospital clinical experience required. Minimum of five years in related leadership roles required. Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan preferred. Certification in health care risk management preferred. Extensive experience and demonstrated expertise in risk management, risk reduction, patient safety, and risk management related regulatory initiatives, including Safe Medical Device Act. General knowledge of hospital operations, and advanced working knowledge of systems theory and statistics. Demonstrated success in a variety of teaching and leadership roles. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to positively and effectively interact with all levels of staff in the organization. Excellent problem solving skills and ability to lead and facilitate group decision-making and conflict resolution. Excellent analytical skills to review results of incident investigations and asserted claims, involving patients and visitors, and make recommendations for resolutions and process improvements. Ability to thoroughly investigate patient incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and develop and facilitate the implementation of action plans. Ability to identify topics for educational sessions, plan and develop educational materials, and present materials to a wide range of staffing levels. Demonstrated experience with and ability to access, input, retrieve, and operate a variety of computer-based programs, including incident reporting systems.
