Job Summary:
Conducts leadership and management functions of the Quality and Patient Safety Program under the dire! ct supervision of the Quality Program Director. Plays an integral part in enhancing workflow and the day-to-day coordinated operations of the team.

Quality and Patient Safety:

  • Oversees and continually evaluates the effectiveness of the operational components of the QPS plan including data capture, data analysis and opportunity identification.
  • Partners with Quality Program Director in the design and implementation of quality and patient safety initiatives.
  • Facilitates the reporting of data and information within the System.
  • Assists department management in developing and implementing new programs aimed at improving or maintaining departmental effectiveness and efficiently.
  • Collaborates with colleagues regarding identified opportunities for improvement or other identified unit needs.
Regulatory Requirements:
  • Assesses program compliance in accordance with regulatory standards in col! laboration with facility leadership and staff. Assists in iden! tifying vulnerable areas of opportunity; provides partnership and collaboration for improvement strategies.
  • Proactively educates staff members regarding new regulatory requirements related to quality and patient safety.
  • Serves as a key liaison during survey activities; actively participating in the day-to-day survey process.
Reporting and Communication:
  • Works with Quality Leadership and team to organize, design and present reports. Identifies and responds to identified opportunities for improvement with those involved.
  • Effectively communicates information both verbal and written in a calm, professional and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to make decisions in a timely and decisive manner.
  • Establishes a climate that promotes teamwork and encourages the development of all staff members.
  • Coordinates team communications frequently; establishes a climate that promotes teamwork and encourag! es the development of all staff.
  • Serves as a mentor and preceptor to new staff members.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Helps to maintain momentum of QPS activities; utilizing chain of command as appropriate.
  • Serves as a role model for the division principles (process focus, fact based decision making, teamwork, non-punitive environment) and promotion of the culture of patient safety.
  • Provides input into staff member performance appraisals; assists in identifying meaningful professional and personal goals for each staff member.
  • Participates in staff interviews, assessing behavioral compatibilities; makes recommendations for hiring.
Perform other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications
Minimum of two years progressive experience in nursing quality and leadership role required.
Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing r! equired; BSN preferred.
Texas State Board of Nursing RN license req! uired; Certified Proffesional in Healthcare Quality highly desired (or required within two years of hire).
