Oncology/BMT experience required
Position Summary
Spectrum Health has approved the creation and development of an adult bone marrow transplant program and is now looking to recruit physician assistants and/or nurse practitioners to the program. With approximately 1,200 new West Michigan cancer patients diagnosed annually with a disease which might require a (Blood Marrow Transplant) BMT, Spectrum Healthâs Adult BMT Program looks to develop a high volume transplant program. The selected candidates will work closely with the programâs transplant physicians and through their clinical excellence have a significant role in establishing Western Michiganâs only Adult BMT program.
Qualifications
Job Summary: Under physician supervision, provides medical care to patients of varying type and acuity.
Job Requirements! : Knowledgeable of the laws of the State of Michigan in regards to clinical activities and the Code of Ethics of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Licensed as a Physicians Assistant in Michigan. Maintenance of CPR certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support as appropriate for patient population. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program. Current NCCPA certification.
Other: Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions. Effective written and oral communication skills. Able to make quality, independent decisions. Time management and organization skills. Independently mobile. 80% of time spent walking or standing. Ability to lift 60 pounds. Must be available for scheduled call time as determined by the PA Manager. Working hours may include varied shifts encompassing all standard shifts 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Nurse Practitioner:
J! ob Summary: The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing pati! ents and coordinating the services provided by multiple disciplines within and outside the health system. Maintains a collaborative practice agreement with specific physician(s). Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of selected protocols/procedures. Provides educational support for patients/significant others, health team members and the community and coordinates QA/QI studies to measure outcomes of care.
Job Requirements: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. Master's Degree in Nursing/health related field. Certified and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of Michigan. Advanced Cardiac Life Support as appropriate for patient population. At least three years current, relevant clinical experience. Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred. Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role. Knowledge of computers required.

Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Time management and organizational skills. Independently mobile. Able to lift patients and equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. (pediatric and adult NP), 40 lbs. (neonatal)
