Liberty Healthcare Corporation is currently seeking a Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) for The Perrigo Medical Center in Allegan, MI. This is a full-time 40 hour per week position. !
The COHN position combines concepts of public health and nursing theory in an orientation toward primary prevention or keeping healthy workers healthy and includes managing workers' compensation records, assistanting in meeting the requirements of the Occupational Safety and health Act (OSHA), conducting environmental surveillance for health hazards, providing direct nursing care to employees, promoting health education and counseling employees.
The COHN in this position is allocated to perform nursing duties in the prevention o desease and injury of workers at their place of employment, first level diagnosis and assessment of physical and emotional needs. The Occupational Health Nurse provides total patient care with the medical staff. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Health services Manager.
Position Requirements:
Knowledge in physical and psychological assessments.
Knowledge of Fede! ral law as well as the state laws for the state working in reg! arding Worker's Compensation and related issues.
Considerable knowledge in the over-the-counter pharmaceutical and prescription medications used in an Occupational Health Care Clinic
Abilility to maintain and interpret medical records and reports.
Perform necessary tests on all pre-placement physical exams; ability to perform physical exams and special tests as indicated or necessary.
Ability to work independently and to follow oral and written directions of a technical and professional nature in exact detail.
Evaluate applicants to assure physical findings are compatible with the job requirements.
Provide medical care of work injuries and/or referral of same to an area physician, hospital, physical therapist or rehabilitation specialist.
Communicate with the Worker's Compensation Coordinator regarding all occupational cases.
Identify the health needs of employees wit non-work related injury or illness ! and treat according to Occupational Health standards or refer to a private physician.
Provide follow-up on all medical cases as necessary by either the severity or chronicity of the case.
Perform tests on all periodic/annual screenings for all high-risk personnel and other classifications as required by Federal and State laws.
Interview and assesses employee's physical status after absence due to illness or injury.
Assists all departments involved with maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Maintain an up-to-date list of health and social agencies available in the community and cooperates with same in case finding projects.
Provides health education programs for employees including a full health and wellness programs and health screenings.

Requirements:
Bachlors Degree from an accredited college of nursing.
Llicensed for nursing in the state of Michigan.
Certified as Occupational Health Nurse (COHN).
CPR Certification.
