Overview:
Under the direction of HR Compliance Counsel, the associate is responsible for ensuring the organization maintains compliance with relevant policies, procedures, laws and regulations. Essential functions include auditing, monitoring, tracking and reporting on compliance issues; maintaining Legacy Health’s people and culture compliance policies/ procedures; assisting employees and leaders with necessary information and resources related to compliance and legal requirements. The associate maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state (Oregon and Washington) laws and regulations and acts as an expert resource and representative when compliance and/or legal issues arise. In addition, the job coordinates and/or participates in developing and implementing compliance plans through the system as well as participates as an active member on committees, programs or teams that include compliance regulation objectives and performs regular and random audits of internal departments to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
This is a remote position open to incumbents who reside in Oregon or Washington only. There may be occasional situations that require work to be performed on-site at an assigned Legacy Health location.
All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new hire paperwork, and first day new employee orientation (NEO) is at a Legacy location in the Portland area.

- Supports HR Compliance Counsel to ensure regulatory and compliance activities are maintained.
- Develops and supports HR Compliance workplans for the system, on an annual and/or as needed basis.
- Provides guidance to Legacy Leaders and monitors completion of responsibilities.
- Continually monitors, tracks and reports compliance issues and assists with remediation of risks.
- Assists in the development and monitoring of compliance-related education and training for Legacy Health employees and physicians.
- Develops appropriate information and reports for the appropriate internal committees who review compliance rates.
- Responds to federal and state legislation additions and changes to develop and coordinate updated compliance plans that requires the participation of more than one Legacy department.
- Assists in actively managing and tracking active employment litigation, including the issuance of litigation holds and communications with employees and leaders who may be impacted.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of resources for Legacy staff members who have a need to participate in employment law matters.
- Under the direction of HR Compliance Counsel, coordinates and supports sensitive investigations with members of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Employee Relations teams.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent related business experience required.
Experience:
Minimum one year experience in a health care environment required. Advanced education (i.e.: Master’s degree, J.D.) can substitute for experience. Preferred: one year of experience working in a compliance or legal department.
Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to facilitate decision-making among interested parties. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent computer skills in the area of analysis and report generation. Ability to work with a wide variety of people in a professional and effective manner. Preferred: Knowledge of Legacy policies and procedures.
