The department of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery has a part-time (0.50FTE) opening for a self-motivated; team orientated Medical Assistant within the Pediatric Orthopa! edic Clinic. Partnering with Patient Services Assistants, other Medical Assistants and clinic nurses to support the high volume outpatient Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery clinic located at the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
Responsibilities*
Primary duties include, but not limited to, performing all duties of check-in and check-out. Other duties include: greeting, escorting and obtaining vitals on patients, reviewing the patient summary list with the patient and update current medications on line. Retrieve prior medical history, print x-rays or other pertinent information for providers. Provide assistance to faculty, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, fellows, residents and clinic nurses. Prepare exam rooms between patients, stocking necessary supplies and forms when needed. Complete forms, H & P booklets and CT/MRI questionnaires as needed. Maintain clinic equipment. Continually monitor clinic workflow for optimal throughput. Utilize exceptional com! munication skills to respond to challenging situations. Mainta! in specific procedure competencies, knowledge of regulatory agency requirements and clinic emergency procedures.
Serve as a role model for exemplary customer service. Demonstrate an excellent work ethic, adherence to start, break, and lunch times, adherence to proper utilization of internet usage, etc. Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
- Current medical assistant certificate.
- 6 months experience working in an ambulatory care clinic setting.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service delivery.
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage stress effectively.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a very busy setting.
- Ability to exhibit professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to document patient vitals in MiCha! rt.
- Experience with Outlook (email).
- Previous experience in an Orthopaedic environment helpful.
Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00am - 1:00pm
Additional Information
Supervision Received:
This position will have functional supervision by the Patient Services Associate and clinic nurses. Administrative/direct supervision is provided by the Administrative Manager.
