Job Qualifications:
We are seeking a seasoned DON with Medicare experience OR! an RN with management experience who is willing to learn the ropes of managing a fluid Homecare Company, to guide, lead and build a fast growing, results oriented Home Health business.
Ideal candidate will have at least 5-8 years of experience in a Medicare Home Health environment, hold a current RN license in the state of Michigan and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Ideal candidate will also have a proven track record of leading and managing teams with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role, plus have an outstanding desire to provide great customer service and creative clinical management.
The Director of Nursing will be responsible for the coordination and the development of policies and guidelines for home health clinical personnel, and providing professional input to related administrative systems. Primary function is for the overall administration of the clinical departments and monitoring of appropriate staffing and productivity. Coordin! ates care with the interdisciplinary Team, Patient/Family and ! Referring Account(s).
He/she will direct and supervise professional and auxiliary personnel rendering patient care services, performing marketing duties and communicating the concept of quality client care to the general community. The Director of Nursing will have primary responsibility for leadership and supervision of the clinical staff to ensure that key process indicators for quality and improvement are met.
Education, training, experience:
Education:
- Graduate of a School of Nursing (BSN, Masters Degree a plus.)
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in MI and/or in accordance with the Board of Nurse Examiners
- Rules for Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC;)
- Current MI Driverâs License
- Minimum four (4) years of nursing experience as a RN (registered nurse)
- 1-2 years being within the last (12) months.
- 1-2 yearsâ experie! nce in home and/or community health care preferred.
- 1-2years experience in Wound Care, Ostomy, CHF using Telemetry, Infusion
- Management experience strongly preferred.
- Nursing skills as defined generally accepted standards of practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate;
- Demonstrate leadership and proven decision making skills;
- If required to make visits, will need proof of TB and/or Hepatitis profile
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of comprehension as well as reading and writing English
- Demonstrated proficiency in the uses of day to day technology (MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EMRs, Texting, Using databases and online resources including government and Medical for research, training and development)
- Reliable Transportation Required;
- Must be able to provide! valid and current auto liability insurance
- Perform duties in an office environment during agency operating hours.
- If required to make patient visits, may work in a patientâs home in various conditions;
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and Infectious Disease(s);
- Ability to work a flexible schedule;
- Ability to locally travel;
- Some exposure to unpleasant weather;
- PRN Emergency Call; Must be available at all times either in person or via telecommunications.
- Prolonged sitting required, with ability to operate office equipment which may include some light lifting, bending and standing;
- Requires the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner at all times
- If required to make patient visits, prolonged standing and walking required, with the ability to lift up to (50) lbs., and, move patients.
- At â"times the ! work requires performing under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs, and able to make intelligent spontaneous decisions and resource acquisition.
- Responsible for the coordination and integration of clinical services for homebound patients
- Works cooperatively with the COO and Community Liaison to publicize services and maintain community relations.
- Ensures that qualified staff is recruited, hired, oriented and assigned.
- Manages and evaluates the health services program to ensure quality of service and maintenance of health service policies and standards, and assists with annual performance evaluation of all professional staff. The goal is to teach and promote disease prevention for eventual patient & caregiver independence, utilizing agency materials as appropriate.
- Provides leadership in planning for health service staff education programs and encourage continuing ! education courses and seminars for all personnel.
- Provides for! maintenance of nursing and medical supplies and equipment.
- Is available, or ensures a similarly qualified alternate is available, at all times during operating hours.
- Serves as back up in the absence of the COO.
- Assists the COO in budget development, implementation, and evaluation
- Assists in the development and interpretation of the philosophy and objectives of the agency.
- Maintain Meetings Minute Manual for all meetings.
