POSITION SUMMARY: Plans and implements specific
treatment programs for individual patients, infant
through adult, according to the principles and practices!
of Occupational Therapy. Collaborate with
interdisciplinary treatment team members to ensure
maximal therapeutic benefit for clients. Assist with
departmental program growth and development.
JOB ROLES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
A. TASK EXECUTOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide
care appropriate to the age of the patients/clients
served, i.e., infant through geriatric. Selects and
plans a variety of sensorimotor, recreational and social
activities to provide Occupational Therapy to patients
based on individual physical capacity.
2. Demonstrates competence, awareness, and sensitivity
of the physical, emotional and socio-psychological needs
of infant through adult aged patients.
3. Evaluates each patient to determine functional
limitations and establishes occupational therapy goals
and a treatment plan.
4. Adapts conventional occupational therapy technique! s
to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend
v! erbal commands or carry out normal activities of daily
living.
5. May be required to design and fit adaptive devices
such as splints and braces for patient use, based on
patient disability and rehabilitation needs.
6. Evaluates, records and reports on patient progress
for review by the physician and other members of the
rehab team within time frame that meets departmental
compliance and quality standards. Consults with
physician on patient progress as needed
7. Maintains established department policies,
procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and
safety standards.
8. Manages day to day schedule to meet departmental
productivity standards. Maintains departmental
cleanliness, appearance and organizational standards.
9. Participates in program development and marketing
activities as assigned and mutually agreed upon by staff
member and Rehab Manager or Director.
10. Participates in education! al programs, in-services,
community service events and meetings as required.
11. Provides oversight and mentoring to clinical support
staff and may be required to provide clinical oversight
to occupational therapy students from affiliated
universities or colleges.
12. Provides contractual occupational therapy in
accordance with specific contracts, maintains policies
and procedures of the specific organization to which
services are provided.
13. Required to travel between all Total Rehab and/or
affiliated facilities as requested by the Rehab Manager
or Director.
14. Performs all other duties as assigned.
B. PROCESS IMPROVER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Actively supports and participates in efforts to
improve team functions and decisions.
2. Conducts training programs for staff and community
members on occupational therapy techniques and
objectives.
3. Demonstrates awareness of Total Qualit! y Management
principles and participates in natural work groups
and/or project teams.
C. CUSTOMER SERVICE AMBASSADOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Meet or exceed PNR Service Standards and Behaviors.
Reaffirms commitment to service excellence by signing
the PNR Service Standards and Behaviors administered
during annual performance evaluations. Attends/completes
service excellence offerings, toolkits and other
requirements as assigned.

3. Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service
provider, and organizational confidentiality procedures

1. Maintains and improves personal and professional
learning and development through literature, seminars,
workshops and affiliations.
2. Seeks and accepts education! to learn new
skills/competencies and maintain current competencies
through educational programs, inservices and meetings.
Job Requirements:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
Preferred: Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
Previous experience in acute care, skilled nursing, and
outpatient occupational therapy
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Operate diagnostic equipment
- Maintain patient charts/records in a timely manner
- Excellent human relations and oral/written
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- CPR Certified
- Registered as Occupational Therapist in Michigan
- Eye protection
- Lab coat/apron
- Mask
- Non-sterile medical gloves
- Utility gloves
- Frequently lifts/carries/pushes/pulls up to 50! lbs.
- Frequent prolonged standing/walking
- Frequently lifts/positions/pushes/transfers patients
- Manual dexterity and mobility
- Frequent reaching/stooping/bending/kneeling/crouching
- Exposed to electrical/mechanical power equipment
- May be exposed to infection/contagious disease, risk
burns
