SUMMARY:
Under the direction of a registered nurse, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for direct patient care. The Patient Care Technician will receive from Registered Nurses (RN) and peers and perform specific nursing interventions as delegated by the RN to identify and attain treatment goals. Strong interpersonal and demonstrable time-management ski! lls are required as the PCT responds to patient requests and i! nforms patients about planned procedures and treatments. The successful candidate will have the experience or education to perform standard activities delegated such as veni-puncture, obtaining blood specimens from and flushing, intermittent infusion devices including the ability to start and discontinue IV lines. Experience with wound and exit site care, applying simple dressings of stage I or stage II depth, securing complex dressings and performing PEG care and dressing changes. Knowledge and experience performing activities of daily living (ADLs) is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED along with a minimum of three months of previous related experience in the area of patient care delivery. Successful completion of a formal training period is required to meet the quality and productivity standards of the job.
