GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The School of Nursing, Division of Health Promotion and Risk Reduction Programs (DIV 2) seeks a LEO Intermittent Lecturer to teach Fall term 2013 in N537 Health Promotion/Risk Reduction. The course meets on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This position is a .20 FTE. The primary responsibility for this position will be presenting content during ! class, overseeing web discussion, and evaluating students.
The purpose of this course is to examine the theory and research of health promotion and its application to practice. It will prepare the health care professional to provide population centered interdisciplinary, prevention-oriented healthcare. Healthy People 2010 will be used as a framework along with theories, concepts, and research from multiple disciplines. Health care models are examined for effectiveness within various social, psychological, cultural, political, and economic contexts. Students successfully completing this course will be able to synthesize models of health promotion and risk reduction and integrate them in their professional setting with individuals and groups (including families, communities, and special populations).

Note: This appointment is for Fall term 2013 only and is covered under the LEO contract.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

A doctoral degree and experience in advanced practice nursing is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have previous teaching experience and content expertise in health promotion/risk reduction. A current Michigan nursing license is required. Prior to start date the selected candidate must be in compliance with all health requirements. Additional Information
