POSITION SUMMARY: Provides basic nursing care to
patients/residents; assists in maintenance of a safe and
clean environment. Assists patients/residents in
attainment of optimal phy! sical, mental and social
abilities based on the patient’s/resident’s
capabilities. All care is provided under the direction
and supervision of licensed nursing personnel.
JOB ROLES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. TASK EXECUTOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintains established department policies,
procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and
safety standards.
2. Completes all required documentation in an accurate
and timely manner.
3. Maintains awareness and follows through with
patient/resident care plans and restorative plans.
4. Follows all infection control guidelines.
5. Utilizes available resources to provide care in a
cost effective manner.
6. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory
personnel.
7. May be required to perform restorative work.
B. PROCESS IMPROVER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Actively supports and participates in process
improvement efforts and! in team functions/decisions.
C. CUSTOMER SERVICE ! AMBASSADOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration
of and advocacy for LHA’s Guiding Principles and
Customer Service Standards of Performance.
2. Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service
provider, and organizational confidentiality procedures
and protocols.
3. Maintains and protects patients/residents rights.
4. Facilitates continuity of care through flexibility in
scheduling, and willingness to work additional shifts
when necessary.
5. Demonstrates reliability and timeliness in reporting
for work.
D. PERSONAL DEVELOPER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintains and improves personal and professional
learning and development through literature, seminars,
workshops and affiliations. Completes Nursing Assistant
monthly post tests.
2. Seeks and accepts education to learn new
skills/competencies and maintain current competencies
through educat! ional programs, inservices, and meetings.
Attends 75% or more of staff meetings and inservices.
3. Maintains CENA certification.
4. Maintains BLS certification.
Job Requirements:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Successful completion of a State approved Nurse aide
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Current state certification (CENA)
- BCLS
- Ability to provide basic ADL’s to patients/residents.
- Ability to use patient/resident care equipment.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal effectively with a changing
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent, prolonged standing/walking.
- Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.
- Occasionally! lifts supplies/equipment.
- Occasional reaching, stooping, bend! ing, kneeling,
- Must be able to read and speak the English language.
- Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or
adequately to assure that the requirements of this
position can be fully met.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- May perform emergency care.
- Regularly exposed to infection/contagious disease.
- Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens from blood
