Patient Services Associate

Location: Ann Arbor Michigan

Description: University of Michigan Health System is presently looking of Patient Services Associate right now, this occupation will be placed in Michigan. The Echocardiograph Ambulatory Care Unit in the busy Cardiac Procedures Unit is currently recruiting for a Patient Services Associate (Referral Coor! dinator) to work in its busy Echo Scheduling office.

Responsibilities*

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Obtain managed care referral and/or authorizations. Provide information to patients regarding referrals and authorization processes. Communicate with insurance companies to obtain necessary information regarding patient referral and or authorizations. Determine the existence of previous registration and obtain, verify and update insurance, financial and demographic information with the patient.

Required Qualifications*

  • 6 months to 1 year experience with outpatient authorizations.
  • Previous scheduling experience in healthcare institution required.
  • Familiarity of Medical Terminology required.
  • Demonstrates ability to work well in a team setting, and independently.
  • Willingness and openness to new ideas, processes and changes to improve communication.
  • Must have excellent ! communications skills.
  • Must have excellent phone skil! ls.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal organizational skills and problem solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Strong ability to multiple tasks and triage according to importance.
  • Excellent attendance record required.
  • Strong computers skills required.
  • Must be able to communicate in a timely manner to schedulers, and nurses of possible cancellations due to insurance issues.
  • Understands and demonstrates the core concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC) and Service Excellence, including: Respect and Dignity, Information Sharing, Participation, and Collaboration.

Work Schedule

! 40 hours per week, full time position. Hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
