The Manager, Labor Relations will support employee and labor relations activities as assigned by the Director, Labor Relations, or VP, HR Compliance and Labor Relations. Primary support will include, but not be limited to, identifying trends and opportunities and implementing strategies for improvement within the organization and otherwise supporting the organizations HR LOB and affiliate facilities where appropriate. The incumbent will be a leader, focused on building positive/influential relationships among all levels in the organization and the represented bargaining units. This role will work with the Director, Labor Relations to develop and facilitate training, participate in collective bargaining sessions, arbitration and grievances and will manage all contract implementations. This position will play a major role in updating, interpreting and applying employee relations policies and the collective bargaining agreements (CBA) applicable to bargaining unit employees across the organization.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Helps oversee the administration and interpretation of the collective bargaining agreements. Serves as hearing officer as part of applicable CBA grievance processes. May represent Cedars-Sinai at arbitrations, negotiations, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and other formal proceedings.r formal proceedings.
- Conducts research on union related matters; analyze CBAs to develop interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contracts; serve on and represent management in labor contract negotiations.
- Assist in, develop, conduct and/or lead trainings related to labor relations for leadership and staff within HR and across the organization.
- Provides guidance and support to operations’ leadership and organizations HR LOB in facilitating the implementation of operational efficiencies, work redesigns and staffing model changes.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with operations’ leadership, employees, and union representatives.
- Oversees resolution of escalated disputes both formal and informal. May act as a resource for employees who raise concerns about management or work issues.
- Guarantees adherence with state and federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards, including quality assurance, and licensure requirements within the applicable work unit.
- Furnish information, such as reference documents and statistical data concerning labor legislation, labor market conditions, prevailing union and management practices, wage and salary surveys, and employee benefits programs, for use in review of current contract provisions and proposed changes.
- Plans, supervises, and evaluates the work of assigned staff; trains employees in the principles of labor relations and contract negotiation.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Business Management, Human Resources or related fields.
License/Certification:
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Senior Certified Professional (SCP), or other Professional HR Certification preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- 5 years Labor Relations experience with experience in multiple HR disciplines including Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Training and Recruitment, union and non-union workforces.
- 2 years Managing people.
