To provide nursing care and coordinate patient care in collaboration with all members of the health care team and provide leadership as physician extenders.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Will be ! responsible to support the Physician Orthopedic Surgery team. This includes inpatient patient rounding, pain management, follow up calls, patient teaching, education and coordination of discharges.
2. Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide other staff toward achievement of area goals.
3. Will service orthopedic patients throughout the health system. Function will include Patient Navigation for the Orthopedic patient population.
4. Keeps abreast of current research and standards of care to enhance and broaden the scope of clinical practice for colleagues and customers.
1. Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Michigan. 2. Relevant orthopedic experience is preferred. Will consider previous RN experience in Orthopedic Services. 3. BLS is required. 4. Ability to problem-solve, and effective verbal and written communication skills are required. 5. Must possess strong differential diagnosis, pharmacology and prescribing pract! ices for critical thinking, advanced knowledge of physical ass! essment of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. 6. On Call required. 7. Will be setting up protocols for service line. 8. Must be physically capable of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
