Background and-or Security Investigation required DUTIES:
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, utilizes basic patient care skills and non-complex techniques, in a healthcare setting, to prov! ide personal and general health care to adult residents, aged 18-85 and older, who require restorative/rehabilitative care.

Services in Geriatric & Extended Care (GEC) are primarily provided to residents in need of restorative/rehabilitative care. The resident population consists of individuals with chronic diseases of the neuromuscular system, chronic wounds, chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, respiratory diseases, heart failure, hypertension, S/P CVA, S/P treatment for carcinoma and those with cognitive and functional impairments including mobility deficits, incontinence, ADL deficits and confusion.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Requirements :

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • English Language Proficiency required
Grade Determinations :
Qualifying specialized experience includes nonprofessional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other medical, nursing, or patien! t care facility.

Specialized Experience for GS-04 Level : 1 year equivalent experience to at least the GS-03 level. Specialized experience includes the following:

  • Providing personal nursing care such as providing pre- and post-operating care
  • Support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures, such as setting up and operating special medical equipment and apparatus.
  • Caring for mentally ill patients, including observing, recording, and reporting changes in their behavior, and providing reassurance and encouragement.
  • Assisting surgeons and registered nurses in operating room activities, including passing instruments, maintaining sterile conditions, and draping and positioning patients.
Substituting Education for Experience at the GS-04 Level : To meet the required specialized experience for the GS-04 level, applicant may substitute an AssociateÂ's degree in nursing or related program. You must submit a transcript to receive credit for this education.

Specialized Experience for GS-05 Level : 1 year equivalent experience to at least the GS-04 level.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current CPR (Basic Life Support) Certification
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
