Borgess Health currently has an opening for a full time Certified Athletic Trainer, at the Kalamazoo Orthopedic Clinic.
The Trainer provides direct patient care services involv! ing all Trainer modalities and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Borgess Bone & Joint Institute. Primary duties include but are not limited to the application of the knowledge and principals of anatomical structure and function and physiological demand and response relative to prevention, assessment, treatment, reconditioning and rehabilitation of injuries and a patient’s readiness to participate in athletic activities. The Trainer carries out all prescribed treatments and recommendations made by the team/program/event physician, covering pre-season physicals, sports games or matches and related events as assigned.

Qualifications
One or two years in athletic training setting preferred.
Entry-level graduates with certification will be considered.
Technical skills and knowledge regarding a broad scope of physical modalities and treatment procedures are necessary.
Interpersonal skills adequate to maint! ain excellent rapport with various departmental staff are requ! ired to assure consistent, accurate, high quality, timely patient care services in coordination with other therapists.
Moderate proficiency at diverse interpersonal skills are required for interaction with physical therapists, departmental support staff, patients with varying physical and emotional needs, patient’s family, nursing staff and physicians.
Verbal skills, hearing, sight and manual dexterity are required.
Adequate skills are required to allow routine use of all clinical equipment including: routine Athletic or Personal Training modalities and evaluative tools.
Must be able to assist with or transfer patients of various weights/heights.
Must be able to push carts containing medical and athletic equipment.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills and be able to walk long distances.
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate to give adequate directions and instructions to subordinates.
Must be able ! to carry medical, first aid and athletic training kit and coolers for long distances.
Educational Requirements
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in health related field with current Certification in Athletic or Personal Training.
License/Certification Required
Michigan Licensure Required. BLS required.
