The Nurse Extern maintains safe patient care and unit environment by completing patient care activities as delegated by the RN. Routine patient care including simple o2 set-up and saturations, skin-wound care, Phlebotomy, accuch! ecks, I&O’s, vital signs and Patient assessment under the supervision of the RN.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists with comfort measures and aspects of basic patient care including the needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients under the direction of the RN.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduation from high school or equivalent is required.
2. Complete 1 year nursing school
3. Possesses highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Physically capable of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Unpredictable environment with wide variations in the types of patients, acuity levels, times of admissions/discharges and the number of patients/health care team members. Works in a standard patient care area with varying conditions regarding temperature control and potential exposure to hazardous materials.
