We are currently looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team in G! arden City, MI.
As a Medical Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed provider/nurse, and in accordance with established policy and procedures, performs a wide range of direct and indirect patient care activities. A Medical Assistant is responsible for clinical duties, regulatory agency compliance, collecting patient history, and effectively relaying instructions from Physician to patients/families.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Apply knowledge gained through job experience to resolve more complex issues and coordinate day-to-day work
- Will not normally need instructions/guidance on routine work; typically self-initiates task priority within established guidelines
- Independently gathers information and resources needed to complete tasks/projects
- May provide guidance to others when appropriate
- Apply experience and judgment to make decisions or resolve issues within standard guidel! ines and protocols
- Has a strong understanding of proc! esses and procedures, and a knowledge of related regulations and standards
- May assist with onboarding and training new team members; acts as a mentor to motivate and support staff in performing daily duties
- Daily decisions and actions demonstrate a high level of engagement and sense of job ownership regarding desired business outcomes â" high patient satisfaction and safety, optimal productivity, and high employee morale
- Consistently demonstrate competency in job required skills
- Attend mandatory training programs
- Verbalize knowledge of, and participate in, emergency management exercises
- Ensure functionality and maintenance of medical equipment
- Participate in maintaining continuous accreditation readiness
- Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exam
- Perform business office functions (clerical, environmental, and organizational) under ! the supervision of the Practice Manager or Supervisor
- Perform routine clinical functions under the supervision of a licensed provider/nurse
- Clinical duties can include but are not limited to: completion of a pain screening, record height, weight, and vital signs, explain procedures to patients, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, sterilize medical instruments, promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, prepare and administer medications as directed by physician, authorize drug refills as directed by the physician, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures/staples, change sterile and non-sterile dressings, and other duties as assigned
- Must have 3 - 10 years of work experience as a Medical Assistant !
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent
- Documented proof of! Medical Assistant program completion is required, certification with the AAMA or AMT is preferred (CMA/RMA)
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, or within 60 days of date of hire
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to multi-task
- Must be able to work collaboratively and seamlessly with all Dell and Oakwood personnel alike
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies
- Must be willing to travel between all OPi healthcare centers if required/requested
