We currently run a class called Writing College Application Essays, where students workshop their college application essays with a writing instructor. We are hoping to add a counseling component to this program, where students will meet with a college/career counselor at least twice during the duration of the class.
The part-time counselor will meet with high school students one-on-one online on Zoom (you set your own schedule). You will help students select colleges to apply to and assist them with the college application process. You will also review their application materials and advise them on needed improvements.
Desired Qualifications:
- Degree in school counseling, career counseling, or a related field
- Experience advising high school students
- Knowledge of college admission requirements
- Knowledge of different colleges and programs and their pros and cons
- Familiarity with hosting Zoom meetings
- Ability to set and manage own schedule
- A self-motivated person who is confident with developing and running their own program, yet also willing to accept direction and work as a team
- Willingness to commit for at least one year
Compensation:
Negotiable (you will be paid per counseling session)
