The Aide Trainee will attend training sessions designed to teach employees how to care for and support residents in a mental health treatment setting. Training will consist of paid classroom and on-the-job training in an actual resident setting. Upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period, the Aide Trainee will be promoted to a Psychiatric Aide (PA) with responsibility for the full scope of care and support to residents living at the facility. Promotion to the PA job title includes an increase in the hourly pay rate for the position.
The Aide Trainee is the beginning level position in the Aide series and the work level is that of a training nature. The employee should be able to maintain an understanding attitude toward the care of psychiatric and/or elderly residents. The Aide Trainee should be a responsible person, show initiative in self-improvement, and express a willingness to learn. They should be able to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and maintain simple records. The employee should also be able to get along with people.

- Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM), 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM), or 3rd shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM), with 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- No previous experience needed, training provided.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
