Available Position: Surgical Technician - MUST HAVE TWO YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Ann Arbor, MI 48105

Work Schedule: Fourth ( 40) hours per week, ten (10) hours per day, four (4) days per week.

Hours are from 7:00am to 5:30pm. The particular days of the week which will be covered will be determined by the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System OR Manager, and may change throughout the duration of the contract. If changes are to occur, the contractor's employee will be given two weeks prior notice. After-hours and weekend call coverage ensuring the availability to cover emergent operative cases; must be able to cover emergent procedures within 30 minutes of notification.

Description of Services (includes but it is not limited to):
The Surgical Technician (ST) is a member of the surg! ical team and provides assistance to the surgeon and other tea! m members during surgical procedures.

The Surgical Technician participates with the surgical team members in planning and implementing complex procedures under the general supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse.

Must possess expertise in theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a surgeon's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Functions as a primary scrub person responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during all surgical procedures including, but not limited to: open heart, thoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, orthopedic, urology, plastic, and general surgery procedures.

Sets up the sterile field with all required items for all procedures, such as air-powered equipment, fiber optic equipment, laparoscopic equipment, micro! scopes, lasers, arthroscopy equipment, urologic equipment, and other operating room supplies and equipment.

Communicates effectively with all Perioperative team members.

Plans and discusses each procedure with surgical professionals and assures that all supplies and equipment are available prior to the surgical procedure.

Prepares, organizes, and maintains highly complex sterile surgical setups.

Period of Performance: The base period of performance is Nine (9) months and it may be extended upon acceptable performance and all necessary state reviews and approvals.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
License: Must have a current Surgical Technician license in any US State or territory.

Education: Must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technician program.

Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, along with Ad! vanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and NRP.

Experience:! Must have at least 2 yearS of OR experience.

Language Skills: Must speak English proficiently.

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen.

1) National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Check

2) DOJ (Name Check)

3) FD - 258 (Fingerprint checks)

4) Law Enforcement Agency checks

Professional References: Minimum of two to three references regarding related work with contact information. Must provide names and phone numbers to be used by the government to verify actual experience.
