Global Health Care Group is looking for a Registered Nurse to provide services at the Operating Room Department at the Department of Veteran Affairs, Ann Harbor Healthcare System in Michigan.
Available Position: OR Registered Nurses (RN).
Work to be performed at:
VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System 2215 Fuller Rd Ann Arbor, MI 48105
Work Schedule: Fourth (40) hours per week, eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week.
Hours are from 6:45am to 3:15pm. After-hours and weekend call coverage ensuring the availability to cover emergent operative cases; must be able to cover emergent procedures within 30 minutes of notification (only as needed).
Extended Hours of Coverage: It is anticipated that some operative cases will extend later than 3:15pm, and that service by the Contractor will be provided until the patient has been transferred from the OR to the PACU.
Description of Services (includes but it is not limited to):
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a member of the surgical team and provides assistance to the surgeon and other team members during surgical procedures.
The RN participates with the surgical team members in planning and implementing complex procedures under the general supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse.
Functions as a primary scrub person responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during all surgical procedures including, but not limited to: open heart, thoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, orthopedic, urology, plastic, and general surgery procedures.
Sets up the sterile field with all required items for all procedures, such as air-powered equipment, fiber optic equipment, laparoscopic equipment, microscopes, lasers, arthroscopy equipment, urologic equipment, and other operating room supplies and equipment.
Plans and discusses each procedure with surgical professionals and assures that all supplies and equipment are available prior to the surgical procedure.
Prepares, organizes, and maintains highly complex sterile surgical setups.
Ability to prioritize assign tasks correctly based on past experience and judgment.
Ability to distinguish situations and decisions that are within the employee’s scope of practice from those that are above the employee’s level of expertise.
Performs other related duties as directed by the OR Manager or her designee.
Period of Performance: Six (6) months and it may be extended upon acceptable performance and all necessary state reviews and approvals.
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
License: Must have a current RN license in any US State or territory.
Education: Must have graduated from an accredited Nursing School.
Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, along with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and NRP.
Experience: Must have experience of at least 1 year in the OR department.
Language Skills: Must speak English proficiently.
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen.
