Description: University of Michigan Health System is presently looking of REGISTERED NURSE (Ambulatory Care, Neurosurgery) right now, this occupation will be placed in Michigan. More details about this occupation opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Responsibilities*

Act as immediate telephone resource to answer questions from all Neurosurgery patients (spine, vascular, functional, tumor, and pediatrics), and determine level of urgency.

Obtain insurance authorization and manage medication refills per physician/APP direction.

Complete patient disability form and and other patient paperwork.

Coordinate and triage referrals and act as immediate resource for external physician calls.

Provide patient education.

Assist [physicians and advanced practice professionals with any other aspect of patient care.

Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications*

Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.

Minimum of two years adult medical/surgical nursing experience.

Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple interventions simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to problem solve in a collaborative manner.

Demonstrated ability to plan and develop education plans.

Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.

Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.

Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period.

Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort.

Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Work Schedule

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift/ Days: Day shift; Monday-Friday; 8 AM to 4:30 PM

Location: Taubman Center- Department of Neurosurgery
