Responsible for risk and safety management activities, which include coordinating insurance coverage and risk financing, managing claims, interfacing with plaintiff and defense legal counsel, administering the risk management program on a day to day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, conducting risk management educational programs, complying with the recommendations, guidelines and standards of regulatory agencies, all with the objective of controlling and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the system.
The Director, System Risk Management is responsible for reviewing and formulating risk related policies and organizational changes.
Assignments are typically in the form of general results expected but the Director has considerable freedom to decide on procedures to be followed.
Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field and a minimum seven years of experience in acute ! care setting; or equivalent combination of education and exper! ience required.
Master’s degree in health care related field or nursing strongly preferred. Registered nurse with a current Michigan license preferred.
Certification in Risk Management preferred.
Must be able to identify, analyze and solve problems effectively.
Must demonstrate comprehension skills. The ability to think independently, demonstrate appropriate judgment skills and to be resourceful is essential.
Ability to read and interpret data from equipment and computer systems is necessary.
Must have the ability to type with basic computer literacy. Must be HIPAA trained as essential duties require exposure to PHI on a consistent basis.
